
Manderson Man Guilty of Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Eric Kills Enemy at Night, a/k/a Eric Kills Enemy, age 19, of Manderson, appeared before U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on December 5, 2012, and pled guilty to a charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. In September 2012, at Manderson, Kills Enemy at Night struck a man in the arm and face with a wooden mop handle, breaking the man's arm. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for March 15, 2013. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. |
